Story Of Dru, A Survivor Of Mortar Shelling ua

Dru is an American young man, who was injured during the mortar shelling on the front line of Ukraine and evacuated by our volunteers Tonny and Dzherald.  Dru was injured back in June. His comrades thought that he was already dead, and for some time he thought the same.  Dru’s body was practically torn to pieces. His passport saved his life as it stopped debris, which almost got to his lungs.  Dru survived two days in a frontline position without blood supply, no surgery and nothing more than BTLS care and Hartmanns to slowly dilute the blood he had left. Then, Dru was hospitalized at the Kyiv No. 2 Specialist Surgical Hospital, where he has undergone plenty of operations, skin transplants, had his broken jaw fixed, gone through infection, and developed osteomyelitis. The shrapnel can not be removed from his lower back. He has lost 88 pounds. Every day Dru feels pain.  Dru’s medical care in Ukraine has been excellent and free, despite of difficult conditions of war.
